The target market

The Target market

This is Sam, he enjoys watching films of different genres; this includes horror, action, comedy and sci-fi. Sam is 17 years old and is 18 next month; he is currently situated in London and has finished doing his A-levels. Sam now goes to university and studies Media but in his own time he enjoys listening to all different types or rock music from alternative rock (the script) to some heavy metal bands (Nickelback/Linkin park). However he also likes listening to what's popular at the moment so he also likes to check up on the charts. Sam also enjoys reading music magazines to catch up on the latest gossip and find out which new songs are meant to be good, Sam is considered to be a moderate means person. Sam also enjoys socializing with his friends whether it is at the local park or a social club or even at a party, he also like going out for meals in fast food restaurants such as going out for an Indian/Chinese food. Sam takes his Ipod with him everywhere and always has the latest rock songs on there; he listens to it when he wants to pass time or relax and enjoys singing along even when he's in public places. Sam has an acoustic guitar with an amp as he enjoys playing it to alternative rock music out loud.

Sam loves rock music and his favourite bands are the Script, Kings of Leon, Nickelback but he enjoys listening to many other artists such as Usher, and plenty more people who are frequently in the charts. He also likes watching TV shows like scrubs and MTV to check up on the latest songs but nevertheless he still prefers rock music to the hits and pop is his second choice.

The target audience of my magazine would be aimed at people between the ages of 13-21 and 22-35 who can be described as hard-pressed or moderate means on the ACORN classifications. I also believe that the NRS social grade of my audience would be C1, D and I also believe that C2, E of the NRS system also fall into the category of my magazine; this allows me to target a wide range of audiences so it is a good thing I have over three social grades on the NRS social grade. As my audience is lower class I must make sure that the cost of my magazine is at a low cost otherwise they will not be able to afford it (between £1.50-£2).
