Preliminary task

This poster is very eye catching for the viewers/audience as not not only is the masthead in bright colours which are easy on the eye but it is also surrounded by a little explosion which makes the title look more stylish as well as giving the impression that the text is coming out at us becuase of the way it is distorted. The colour of the title (blue) connotates that the magazine is trustworthy (whatever is inside is true) as well as being an intelligent magazine. The main image stands out as it is not only above the blue school logo but also the red puff which says 'Only 20p!' these bright colours help make the main image stand out a lot more, the puff also attrractcts the audience due to the cheap pricing of the magazine. The two coverlines also attract the audience as on one of them a question is used which helps engage them and encourage them to find out the answer (the pictues also help back up the coverlines as well as make them clearer to the viewers). The other coverline also engages the reader as it says 'our school is on fire!!!', although our school is not literally on fire it suggests that our results from the tests which were taken were amazing and it is what every student wishes to hear.

Although the contents may look very simple it is actually very effective, the writting 'contents' has been written diagonally accross the page to not only make it fairly easy on the eye but to also make it go in the same direction as the ball to make it look like someone has thrown it accross the page (this relates to the sports section inside the magazine). Also the colour blue which was used for the writting of 'Contents' was use to make the magazine seem not only loyal, bhut again truthful and intellegent. However the normal text is coloured in red suggesting that there will be energy/excitement within the magazine therefore making the viewers want to buy it to see what is so exciting about the magazine. The two pictures below are also quite easy on the eye but it their main use in this magazine is to help the audience get a better understanding/idea of what is being described on the numbered content so they are not mislead (thinking the magazine withiolds information which it actually doesnt) therefore preventing an angry audience who did not get the knowledge they were hoping to get by reading the magazine.

Preliminary task

This contents page includes many features such as the ‘o’ is a football, the ‘T’ is used as a rugby post and the underline is a tennis ball being hit across the title. Like a normal contents page it has the titles, e.g.’ Sports’, and the page number next to it. However around the page number I have surrounded it by little images which some even relate to the text, for example I have put a microphone next to the title ‘interview with head’ using this technique would make the magazine more recognisable from the others.
Not only this but underneath the image of the new head teacher I have put the school logo, this is to show that just because it looks like there is loads of

fun and games it doesn’t mean that we are a school that doesn’t bother with education.

This contents page contains a rugby ball instead of the ‘O’ in ‘Contents’ and a man trying to catch it. However I feel that this is the dullest out of my other three as there is only pictures/text and in my other ones the background/pictures have something to do with the text (microphone next to the title ‘interview with head’),or are well placed pictures, such as in the window. Nevertheless I still feel that the pictures are drawn well but they need to be placed somewhere else to give it a professional or even more spacious.

This contents page is probably one of the best out of the three for its layout. Underneath the title it has a rugby ball being thrown at a high speed which is used to underline the ‘Contents’. However for the text I was going for something unoriginal to make it more unique and that is why I used capital letters. I then went on to draw an outline of the front of the school. After that I then came up with the idea to put images that were relevant to the news in the windows to make it more spaced out and not so squashed together.

Preliminary task

This poster has a lot in common with a normal every day magazine as it has the title, subheadings etc. How ever I have included things such as an explosion around the title, a football surrounding the subheading 'Goffs sports'.
This makes my magazine unique and stand out from the others, not only this but we also have our main image (medium shot) with a T.V frame around it, this is to attract an a wide range of audience from T.V watchers to people who just want to know what's happening in school.

This poster, unlike the others, has its title distributed down the right hand side of the page. The main image is of the new head-teacher looking straight at us whilst still maintaining a serious face. Out of all the posters this has to be the most informative of the schools education, results and uniform. For that reason i do not think it will attract the target audience of teens therefore i am not going to use this for my final design.

This poster has a medium long shot of a Goffs student advertising our new uniform. It also attracts our target audience as the title 'G.Z' will make it relate more to the youth. It is also layed out quite good as the main news is in the main block of the building and the smaller news is in the little building. Out of my three posters this one has to have the best layout due to the text in each building.
